About the role

A rural Highland estate is seeking an experienced and flexible Chef to support the owner throughout the year. Location: Private Highland Estate, Scotland Base: North/Highlands of Scotland, with regular travel Contract: Flexible/Part-time with potential to expand Reporting to: Estate Management/Head of Hospitality Role Overview: The role will involve preparing high-quality, family-style meals using seasonal and estate produce, supporting visits in Scotland, and occasional travel to Denmark to work alongside the Estate’s lead chef. This is a varied and evolving role, offering the opportunity to become involved in additional events and hospitality over time. Due to the private nature of the estate, confidentiality and discretion are essential at all times. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and serve fresh, well-presented meals for the owner family, including small groups and larger gatherings Cater confidently for vegan and gluten-free diets Create simple, seasonal menus focused on family-style food Assist with catering for extended stays and peak periods, including support for several weeks during the summer on the estate Travel to Denmark 4–6 times per year to work alongside the Estate’s lead chef Check existing food stocks ahead of visits and carry out pre-visit shopping and sourcing , including specialist vegan products Make effective use of estate and kitchen garden produce where available Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food hygiene in all kitchen areas Work flexibly in response to changing guest numbers, events and estate needs Contribute ideas for menus and food planning
