Chef - Children's Residential Home

About the role

Position Available - ASAP Start Date This is a part time, permanent post working 32 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with one day at the weekend alternating each week). You’ll be based at one of our Leicester City Council Children's home. As a chef you’ll do more than just cook for the young people. You’ll be responsible for providing a range of nutritious and culturally diverse meals for both young people and the staff. You’ll use the council’s software systems to research new menus to keep the food exciting and creative. In addition, you’ll use programmes such as, Microsoft Office to display these new ideas and Outlook to communicate changes to the rest of the team. Alongside the home’s care staff and managers, you’ll help support the young people in the home with life-changing independence skills, teaching them to cook and plan menus that will lead to a healthy and self-sufficient lifestyle in their later years. Day-to-day activities will include but is not limited to, ordering provisions, overseeing stock control, record keeping, equipment maintenance and attending to the health safety requirements of the home.
