About the role

Langdale Chase Hotel sits on the banks of beautiful Lake Windermere and has recently undergone a full and significant refurbishment, reopening in November 2023. Since reopening, the hotel has achieved AA 5 Star status, achieved 2 AA Rosettes, been recognised in The Times Top 50 Places to Stay, ranked No. 3 in the UK, and named North of England Hotel of the Year. We are looking to appoint a Head Chef to lead the day-to-day running of the kitchen operation at Langdale Chase, supporting the Executive Chef in delivering outstanding food, consistent standards and a strong kitchen culture. The Head Chef will be responsible for maintaining quality across all food outlets, developing the kitchen team, controlling costs, ensuring compliance and helping grow and develop the hotel food offering commensurate at AA 3 Rosette level. Your day to day; Lead the kitchen operation in the Executive Chef's absence. Manage daily service, preparation, standards, and kitchen organisation. Drive consistency, quality, and care across every section. Support the Executive Chef with training, coaching, and team development. Lead a large brigade with clarity, calmness, and high expectations. Support menu development in line with business needs and AA Rosette ambitions. Oversee ordering, stock control, wastage, and supplier standards. Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, allergen, and kitchen records. Ensure every dish is cooked, checked, and served with pride. Create a clean, calm, professional, and disciplined kitchen environment. Help build a strong, motivated team culture with genuine ambition. Who are we looking for? We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven chef who is passionate about food, detail, leadership, and building something properly. You will ideally have experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or Head Chef in a high-volume, quality-led kitchen, preferably within a 2 Rosette environment and above, or a similar luxury hotel or destination restaurant setting. A strong understanding of British cookery is essential, alongside the ability to work calmly under pressure, lead by example, and bring out the best in those around you. This is a demanding, high-volume luxury hotel kitchen with serious culinary ambition. The successful candidate will understand the discipline required to deliver consistently at Rosette level while managing the practical realities of a busy service, large team, and exacting guest expectations. You will need to be organised, hands-on, consistent, and standards-focused - with the ability to balance creativity with the operational demands of a busy 5-star hotel.
