We are a privately owned inn, restaurant, and hotel with nine comfortable letting rooms, nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside just outside Newbury Berkshire. As a successful family-run business, we have been welcoming guests for over forty years, offering warm hospitality, great food, and a relaxing place to stay. We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly organised Head Chef to lead our busy kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality food while leading and developing a successful kitchen team. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the kitchen operation, ensuring exceptional food quality, effective stock management, and full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.Key Responsibilities • Manage the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen. • Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team to deliver outstanding service. • Ensure the preparation, consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes meet the highest standards using fresh ingredients where practical • Oversee stock ordering, stock control, and inventory management to minimise waste and maintain target margins. • Maintain full compliance with food safety legislation, health and safety regulations, and best practice hygiene standards. • Ensure the kitchen is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation at all times. • Monitor food costs and work towards achieving agreed gross profit margins. • Foster a positive, professional, and efficient working environment.
