Senior Sous Chef

About the role

Location: Novelli At City Quays A Day in the Life of… As Senior Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in delivering exceptional food and maintaining consistently high standards across all food and beverage operations. You'll take ownership of your section, preparing, cooking and presenting dishes with care and attention to detail, while helping to develop new menu ideas and seasonal dishes that keep our offering fresh and exciting. You'll also support and develop the wider kitchen team, providing guidance and coaching to Demi Chef de Parties and Commis Chefs, creating an environment where people can learn, grow and perform at their best. Alongside this, you'll ensure food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards are always maintained, whilst keeping a close eye on stock, waste and portion control to support the commercial success of the operation. What We Need from You We're looking for a talented chef who combines strong culinary skills with a positive, team-focused approach. You'll have a solid understanding of ingredients, flavours and cooking techniques, along with the confidence to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Organisation and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to delegate effectively and support the development of those around you. You'll understand the importance of maintaining a safe, clean and compliant kitchen and recognise how good stock control, waste management and efficient working practices contribute to the overall performance of the business. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests through great food, taking pride in every dish that leaves the kitchen and living our brand values in everything you do.
