About the Role We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Early Years Chef to join our nursery team. You will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for children aged 0-5 years, ensuring all food is prepared to a high standard whilst meeting dietary, allergy, and nutritional requirements. This is a rewarding role where you will play an important part in supporting children's health, wellbeing, and positive eating habits. Key Responsibilities Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with nursery menus and nutritional guidance. Cater for children's individual dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety at all times. Ensure compliance with Food Standards Agency guidance, Environmental Health requirements, and nursery policies. Manage food ordering, stock control, and kitchen budgets effectively. Keep accurate records relating to food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and allergen management. Work closely with the nursery team to support children's understanding of healthy eating. Ensure the kitchen and food preparation areas are clean, organised, and well maintained. Attend relevant training and meetings as required. What We Are Looking For Experience working in a catering or kitchen environment. Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations. Understanding of allergies, intolerances, and special dietary requirements. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively. A positive, friendly, and reliable approach. A genuine passion for providing nutritious meals for young children. Essential Requirements Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain). Right to work in the UK.
