About the role

We are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team at The Victoria Inn, Threemilestone, as a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to kick-start a career in hospitality, working alongside experienced chefs in a busy, high-quality kitchen environment. As an apprentice, you will learn the fundamentals of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety while developing your skills through hands-on experience and structured training. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine willingness to learn and grow within the role. At The Victoria Inn, we are committed to investing in our people. Responsibilities Support the kitchen team in the preparation and cooking of fresh food to a high standard Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, weighing, and measuring ingredients Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards in line with company and legal requirements Help with stock rotation, storage, and kitchen cleaning duties Work efficiently as part of a busy kitchen team during service Learn and develop core culinary skills through hands-on experience and training Customer-facing duties: Provide excellent customer service when interacting with guests Confidently communicate with customers in a friendly and professional manner Assist with serving and carving meats on the carvery, ensuring presentation and portion control standards are met Respond positively to customer requests and ensure a welcoming dining experience Requirements A strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment Passion for food, cooking, and developing a career in hospitality Positive attitude, reliability, and good timekeeping Good communication skills and confidence interacting with customers Commitment to delivering excellent customer service at all times Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions Willingness to take part in all aspects of kitchen and service duties, including carvery service Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and busy service periods as required
