The household comprises two adult principals, with family members and guests visiting regularly throughout the year, particularly during the shooting season. This is a well-run private estate supported by additional household staff, creating a collaborative and respectful working environment. The family are seeking a diligent Housekeeper with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in maintaining exceptional household standards while providing warm hospitality to visiting family and guests. Situated in one of Wiltshire’s most attractive rural locations, this position offers the opportunity to work within a prestigious country estate surrounded by stunning countryside and traditional English landscapes. This is a permanent, full-time position which can be offered on either a live-in or live-out basis. Accommodation can be provided on the estate grounds for the successful candidate, offering comfortable living arrangements within a beautiful rural setting. Due to the property's countryside location, a valid driving licence is essential, and a vehicle may be provided for the right candidate. The schedule is centred around weekends and Mondays, with one additional flexible weekday, making it particularly suitable for a Housekeeper seeking a varied role with flexibility. Working as a Housekeeper in this household involves maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the property, preparing guest accommodation, assisting with family-style cooking, and supporting the smooth running of the estate alongside other members of staff. Working as a Housekeeper in this household requires a proactive and adaptable approach. Responsibilities include maintaining immaculate housekeeping standards throughout the residence, preparing guest rooms for family and shooting guests, managing laundry, ironing, wardrobe care, caring for valuable household finishes including marble, silver, fine wood, and artwork, and will be shared with a household cleaner. During shooting weekends, the Housekeeper will prepare breakfasts and family-style evening meals for up to six guests, while providing simple breakfast service for visiting guests. The successful candidate will work closely with other household staff, contribute to the smooth running of the estate, and ensure the property remains beautifully presented at all times. This role would suit a professional Housekeeper who enjoys a combination of housekeeping, hospitality, and cooking duties within a prestigious countryside environment. Position Type: Live-Out or Live-In, Full-Time, Permanent Working Days: 5 days per week (flexibility expected, especially during shooting season) Working Hours: 37 hours per week Language: Conversational English Salary: £20 - £25 Location: Outside Marlborough, Wiltshire, GB (SN8) Start Date: ASAP Main duties of this Full-Time Housekeeper/Cook: Maintaining exceptional housekeeping standards throughout the 7-bedroom residence Daily household resets and ongoing household organisation Working alongside a cleaner, sharing cleaning and laundry responsibilities Preparing, cleaning, and presenting guest bedrooms and guest accommodation Changing and rotating bed linen and towels Laundry management, including delicate garments, ironing, folding, and wardrobe organisation. Cleaning and maintenance of all living spaces, including specialist care for marble, wood, silver and art work. Monitoring household presentation and ensuring all rooms remain guest-ready Providing family-style cooking and meal preparation Preparing breakfasts during shooting weekends for up to six guests Stock control and management of household supplies, ensuring the home is always fully equipped. Supporting the smooth running of the household alongside other staff members Liaising and communicating effectively with colleagues and principals Maintaining discretion, flexibility, and professionalism within a private estate environment Healthy cooking and preparation of family meals, including children’s meals and occasional guests.
