We are seeking energetic and passionate Commis Chefs to join our culinary team at Frome Here by Mike. Working alongside a talented kitchen brigade, you will help deliver exceptional dining experiences while supporting the high standards of a busy, hatted restaurant environment.

About the role

As Commis Chef, you will support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen by assisting with preparation, service, and presentation across the breakfast offering. You will work closely with senior chefs to ensure every dish reflects our culinary standards and brand values, even during high-volume service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with recipes, presentation guidelines, and hotel standards
• Assist senior chefs with daily mise en place and service preparation
• Ensure food is prepared and served efficiently during busy service periods
• Support the kitchen team in maintaining consistency, quality, and attention to detail
• Uphold the hotel’s sustainability practices through mindful preparation, responsible ingredient use, and waste reduction
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and workplace health and safety standards
• Bring a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine passion for culinary excellence to every shift

About you

You are passionate about food, eager to develop your skills, and motivated by the energy of a professional kitchen. You work well under pressure, value teamwork, and understand the importance of detail in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

You will ideally bring:

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen
• A passion for food, creativity, and continuous learning
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to follow recipes and instructions with care and consistency
• Excellent attention to detail
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings and weekends
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery preferred
