The Job:

The Royal Oak, Double Bay is looking for a full-time Chef de Partie as well as a casual chef to join our busy pub kitchen. If you enjoy the pace of a bustling service, take pride in serving quality food and work well with a close-knit team, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll take ownership of your section, ensuring preparation is organised and every dish goes out consistently and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role suited to a chef who can keep up with high-volume service while supporting the wider kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your section through preparation and service, keeping it stocked, organised and ready for busy periods.
  • Prepare, cook and plate dishes to recipe specifications, maintaining consistent quality and portion sizes.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and kitchen team to deliver timely service.
  • Communicate clearly during service and lend a hand across other sections when needed.
  • Monitor stock levels, follow FIFO stock rotation and minimise food waste.
  • Assist with deliveries, stocktakes and opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and follow food safety, hygiene and WHS standards.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, or a strong Commis Chef ready to step up, ideally in a busy pub or high-volume kitchen.
  • Confidence running a section independently and managing multiple orders during peak service.
  • A practical approach to cooking, with a focus on quality, consistency and presentation.
  • Strong organisation, clear communication and a willingness to support your teammates.
  • Reliability, a positive attitude and openness to feedback.
  • Availability to work a rotating roster, including nights and weekends.

Why Join Us? At the Royal Oak Hotel, we value growth, teamwork, and dedication. We offer a supportive work environment, opportunities for professional development, and a chance to work with a skilled kitchen team committed to culinary excellence.

Please note that we are only contacting applicants with full time Australian working rights.
