Wairakei Resort Taupō is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our Kitchen team on a part-time, fixed-term contract through to 1 April 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of New Zealand’s most iconic resort destinations. With 13 dedicated conference spaces, the Pavilion Restaurant, Geyser Bar & Eatery, and a busy programme of events and functions, our kitchen team plays an important role in delivering memorable experiences for our guests.

Job Description

Key responsibilities: • Assisting with food preparation for our restaurants, functions and hotel operations • Preparing ingredients and basic dishes to the required standard • Supporting the Chef team during busy service periods • Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen • Following food safety and hygiene procedures • Assisting with stock preparation and kitchen organisation • Working as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations

Qualifications

About you: • Some kitchen or food preparation experience preferred, but training can be provided • Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn • Able to work well under pressure in a busy environment • Good attention to detail and a positive attitude • Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays • A genuine interest in developing your kitchen skills
